Florence

I'm in love with Florence. It is probably my favorite city we have been to yet. It has been so much fun! Rome was pretty neat but I just feel like Florence is so much closer together and everything is within walking distance. The first night in Florence Lauren, Lauren, Jess and I went to dinner ang GUESS WHO JOINED US??? Hannah morehead, my cousin was in town for a couple of nights with Jessica the exchange student that stayed with her from Scotland. So they joined us for dinner at a nice very authentic steak house called aqua al 2. One of Lauren's friends studied abroad last semester in Florence and recommended it to us and I can say it was by far the best steak I've eaten in my entire life!!! It was that good. Pretty expensive, but def. worth it! Hannah and I split a bottle of red wine and Lauren and I split a balsamic steak and a pasta sampler. Amazing!!!

After dinner we went to a bar and it was a lot of fun. Hannah and her friend came with us but Jessica went back to their hotel because she was not feeling well. We had a great time and it was nice to meet up with Hannah in Florence :)

The next day we had a guided tour of the city of Florence. It was so beautiful and we learned a lot about the city from our tour guide. Florence is well known for their leather. It is all very nice and they make it in Florence. We went to a leather demonstration after our tour and we saw how they make leather and they taught us to tell the difference between real leather and fake leather and all that good stuff. It's pretty expensive any real leather that you purchase but since it is made in Florence we got pretty good deals. I got my very first leather jacket and it is sooooo nice I'm so obsessed with it!!! :) it was interesting to see how they made leather. Market is also very nice. We spent the remaining of the afternoon walking around, shopping, buying souvenirs and gifts for family and friends and getting gelato. Lauren's friend who studied abroad last semester also recommended us to go to a panini place and gelato. She said that they are both the best in the entire city and boy was she right! I think we had gelato at least twice a day :) that night we went to a very nice restaurant and I had roscotto for the first time! It was alright, I'm not too much of a fan.

The next morning we went to Pisa and had a local tour and saw the leaning tower of Pisa. Pretty incredible! I'm not going to lie that was a pretty impressive sight to see! We had a lot of fun but didn't get to go to the top is Pisa.

When we got back from Pisa I went with the Canadian girls to the academia museum and we got to see Michael Angelo's sculpture of David. Probably one of the coolest sights I've ever seen. I've seen so much on this trip it seems like. But anyway David.... Michael Angelo sculpted David in reenactments of David's stance after defeating Goliath the giant. His stance is just portrayed absolutely perfect. He is flawless and it was also incredible to see how micheal Angelo sculpted David flawlessly. His veins his stance his muscles. It was crazy and is unbelievable that he knew so much about the man body way back then. It is just incredible and the sculpture of David is much bigger that I had anticipated. Anyway I didn't know that you were allowed to take pictures so knowing me I whip out my huge camera and start snapping away at David. And then I get yelled at.... Over the intercom.... In Italian first. And it was pretty embarrassing. But at least I got a picture! Such a sneaker:) the picture still doesn't do it justice though.

Anyway that night we went to dinner and I had lobster pasta yum yum so delicious and then we went to the piazza de Michael Angelo which is one of the highest points overlooking Florence and we watched the sunset. Breathtaking. Julia Kempka and her friend met up with us and we sat up there for a little bit and just took in the entire city of Florence and it was absolutely magnificent. Again, pictures just don't do it justice! We had a lot of fun in Florence and saw so much. I was so glad that I got to meet up with Hannah and Julia.
