We made it in from our overnight ferry and drove by bus to Pompeii. Pompeii was astonishing. In 79 AD a volcano erupted in the city and the city was built up with as up to 34 feet. The city of Pompeii was covered. A few years ago archeologists started to dig up the city and uncover it. What they found was unbelievable! The original structures and buildings and basically day to day stuff was left untouched under all the ash that covered the city up to 34 feet. Hundreds and hundreds of thousands of years later and we were able to tour this underground city of Pompeii. It was unbelievable!! There were even bodies of people from the city covered in ash and turned to stone that were left and we got to see that the people preserved for thousands and thousands of years. I can't believe that when they dug up and discovered the city of Pompeii there were still actual ancient original ruins and we can see how they use to live their day to day lives. Crazy!!

An old market place where the people use to go to get water(where the small circles are behind the desk) a local supermarket:

One of the people they discovered under all the ash... You can tell this person was trying to cover his face from the ash of the volcano but tragically suffered to death:

Looks like a person they found under all the ash who was either praying or crying. Either way blocking his or her face from the ash of the volcano but died sitting up maybe on a surface or in a chair? :

Their rooms in one of their houses they discovered:

Some of the original ruins of the city of Pompeii which use to be underground:

Me with some of the original still in tact ancient ruins of the city of Pompeii which use to be under ground from the volcanic ash:
